(1) A person shall be qualified to be elected as a member of the Assembly if, and shall not be qualified to be so elected unless - A) he possesses Caymanian Status and B) he has attained the age of twenty one years; and C) he is, at the date of his nomination for election, domiciled and resident in the islands; and D) he is a qualified citizen; and either E) he was born in the islands in the circumstances mentioned in subsection (2)(b) of this section, has resided in the Islands for a period of not less then seven years immediately preceding the date of his nomination for election and, subject to subsections (3) and (4) of this section, the number of days on which he was absent from the islands in that period does not exceed four hundred; or |

There are 17 polling divisions situated throughout the six electoral districts. Once you register to vote and provide your street address the Elections Office will assign you to a polling division. On election day you will have to attend this assigned polling division and you will be directed to your polling station. The presiding officer, after you have shown your Elector Registration card or otherwise identified yourself, will provide you with a ballot paper. You will be instructed on election voting procedures. The Qualifications to be treated as an absent elector are as contained in section 46(1)(A-E) of the elections law(2004) revision and outlined as follows: a) An elector is unable or likely to be unable to go in person to the polling station for one of the following reasons- i) the general nature of the occupation, service or employment of the person in question; ii) that person's service as a member of any of Her Majesty's Forces;
